Staff Spotlight: Angela Mills, Office Manager
You may know Angela from seeing her at the front desk or speaking to her on the phone. She loves connecting with clients and helping to make sure the office runs smoothly.
1. How long have you worked at SWC?
Two and a half years.
2. How did you first come to be involved with SWC?
Twelve years ago, when my daughter was a teenager, she had become very ill and had such pain in her joints that she could barely walk. She had some troubling lab results and we had an appointment with a specialist but had to wait a couple months to see them. During that time, a friend of mine called me and recommended we take her to see Pamala.
Pamala recommended allergy treatments. Within weeks, our daughter was feeling better and back to her old self. By the time her appointment with the specialist came, she was completely fine and her labs came back normal.
Before seeing Pamala, our daughter was also very anemic. She had been on iron supplements but nothing was helping her anemia and she was often tired and weak. She was also extremely allergic to beef. When I mentioned that during an appointment, Pamala let us know that our daughter was actually allergic to iron and that’s why she couldn’t absorb it and why beef made her so sick. She was treated for iron, then for beef, and she was able to absorb iron and recovered from anemia. To this day, she can eat beef! Bringing our daughter in was completely life changing for her and for us.
As any parent will understand, at this point I was officially a fan of Schwarz Wellness Center.
About ten years later, my youngest child was about to graduate high school and my career as a homeschool mom was coming to an end. I decided to get a job and began praying for guidance. One day, I said to my husband, “I would really like to work in a small office with Christian women.” I had worked from home as a writer for many years and before homeschooling, I had been a preschool teacher. So, I have no idea why I wanted to work in an office but that is exactly what I wanted to do.
The very next day after telling my husband that, I received the SWC newsletter and it included a notice that they were looking for a front desk person! I was doubtful that I would be considered, since I hadn’t worked outside the home in twenty years. However, it felt like an answer to prayer so I went ahead and sent in an email and asked to be considered. Despite my lack of office experience, Pamala changed my life for the second time by offering me the job.
3. What is your favorite part of your job?
Seeing people get better. Every day, we see people’s lives changing. We see healing happening, both physical and emotional, which of course affects every area of a person’s life. It is an incredible blessing to witness that and be a small part of what goes on in our practice. I have also learned so much about natural health working with our wonderful naturopaths.
I love my coworkers and have made lifelong friends here. We have the best work culture-- we all truly care for each other and look out for and support one another. Every person at SWC genuinely cares about our clients and want to do everything we can to help them.
I am also a huge organizing geek and quite enjoy that aspect of my job.
4. Share about your family and life outside of SWC?
I am married to my best friend, Eric. We have three daughters, aged 29, 26, and 19 and have been blessed with four grandchildren.
In addition to working for SWC, I am a writer and a court-appointed special advocate for foster youth. I am an avid reader and enjoy cooking, walking, painting, photography, and the NYT crossword. But most of my free time is spent with my family; there’s nothing I love more than having a house full of all of our kids and cooking big dinners for everyone.
5. Please share a fun fact about yourself.
I rarely talk about it at the office, but my book, Bless Your Husband, was published in 2018. I am currently writing a novel.
Episode #6 Allergies No More?!
…Is this even possible?
More than 50 million people in the U.S. experience various types of allergies each year. They are the sixth leading cause of chronic illness in the U.S.
“Allergies are an inappropriate response from the nervous system to a harmless stimuli”- naturopath and N.A.E.T practitioner Pamala Kay Schwarz shares in our interview. N.A.E.T. is a technique that can help the body rewire the brain and nerve system's response when exposed to an allergen. So much so, that people all over the world have found relief or reversal of their food and seasonal allergies, even those with a deadly anaphylactic response have found incredible results.

Breast and Body Thermography
Appointments available at Schwarz Wellness Center monthly.
Service provided by Dr. Hillary Smith D.C, CCT and founder of Advanced Medical Thermography in Southern California. Dr. Smith is an expert in Thermography with the highest certification available through the American College of Clinical Thermography. She has been offering thermography since 2006 and has been in continuous practice in Integrative Health for over 35 years.
Thermography is a non-invasive, proactive health check. Using a highly sensitive infrared camera, the screening is painless and there is not touching or radiation.
The infrared images are analyzed by specially trained Medical Doctors certified as Thermologists and a written report is generated.
Breast thermography is becoming more well-known and accepted as a valuable screening tool, looking for early changes that can be addressed with lifestyle. Dental thermography is being utilized extensively, especially with biological (holistic) dentistry to see the invisible in the mouth. Half body and full body scans are very helpful in finding root causes of pain or as a health screening.
Our newest offering is the two-area scan. This is an opportunity to have a breast screening along with an area of interest such as the head (dental) and neck at a reduced price.
